Melting Pot

As I see all of these great ideas on Pinterest that involve dipping goodies into melted chocolate, I felt I had to share this MOST HELPFUL TIP:  invest in a melting pot.  Yes, you can melt chocolate over a double boiler or in the microwave, but you will thank me once you have bought and used a melting pot.  I got this one on eBay for $15.00 - made by Salton.  I have also seen them for sale at CVS, Walgreens, Michaels and Hobby Lobby (use coupons at the last two places, by all means!).  Any brand will do and it makes melting and dipping so much easier, neater and faster.

I just dipped some dried mango pieces into my melted chocolate...so-o-o-o good.  Usually, I don't use all the chocolate up (of course I did here since I wanted to use this as an example of what to do next...). I don't clean out the unused chocolate, thereby wasting it.  I simply let the pot cool, stick it into a large freezer bag, and store it in the closet with the bottom of the pot until I need it again.  That way, I don't waste any of that precious chocolate.  If you are changing types of chocolate, going from mint to white, or dark to milk, then you might want to clean the pot out before you make that change.  Since I always use dark chocolate (if you are going to consume calories, might as well do it right!) I never have that problem.  Hope you like your melting pot as much as I do mine.

Cooled pot in freezer zip lock baggie waiting to be put into the closet.  Couldn't take a picture of the mango pieces as they were all gone by the time I got the camera.
